School for Mentally Retarded Children, Penang is built on 1,373 acres of land located in Relau, Penang. The institution run by the Association of Mentally Retarded Children, Penang was originally located at Jalan Dato Keramat, Geogetown has been packed with student capacity. The association acquired a piece of land in Relau to build a new school building. The double storey building cost RM 17.7 million has 22 classrooms, a community hall and a canteen.
This project prioritizes the need for universal design to help students with special needs. The building provides a special ramp that takes students from ground floor to the first floor of the building, and reducing the floor drop between areas.
